WATER TRANSMISSION DEVELOPMENT PROJECT 2009 -2012 WATER STATIONS CENTRAL Invitation For Prequalification for Construction of Water Stations The ELECTRICITY AND WATER AUTHORITY of the KINGDOM OF BAHRAIN is proposing to implement works under the Water Transmission Development Project 2009-12. Part of the Project, Water Stations Central (WSC), includes the construction of one new water station at Nuwaidrat in central Bahrain together with construction works at three existing water stations at Sitra DFS and Isa Town East DS in central Bahrain and a third water station at Durrat Al Bahrain DS in the South of Bahrain. The works include the construction of the four pumping stations of capacity up to 30 Mgd, the construction of seven steel ground storage tanks (GST) of 5 Mg capacity and two steel elevated service reservoir of 1 Mg capacity. (All units in imperial gallons) The Electricity and Water Authority intends to pre-qualify contractors and /or firms from the member countries of the Islamic Development Bank, who have demonstrated strong experience in executing works of a similar type, for the design, procurement and construction of the above stated works The criteria for eligible applicants will include, but not limited to, • Contractors with average annual turn-over for the last three years of not less than BD 24 million, available tendering capacity of not less than BD 24 million and with access to financial resources not less than BD 4 million. • Participation as Prime Contractor in at least three contracts in the water sector in the past 10 years that have been successfully completed that are similar to the proposed works and that the value of each of these contracts is not less than BD 20 million. Applicants will be required to submit the following along with their prequalification submission: 1. Certificates and statements of their financial capability from a bank which is acceptable and recognised by the Bahrain Monetary Agency. 2. Statements of major works experience which are of a similar nature, either overseas or in Bahrain, along with certification by an official authority in the country where the works have taken place. 3. Completion Certificates of works executed either in Bahrain or overseas. 4. Copies of the published accounts for the last three years showing the balance sheets and profit & loss statements audited by a recognized certified auditor. In addition to the above, overseas applicants will have to be sponsored by a Bahraini agent who has the right to conduct business in Bahrain. The Bahraini Agent shall have fulfilled the compliance requirements to the conditions & provisions of the Commercial Companies Act and the Commercial Agencies Act. The works on Water Stations Central WSC is programmed to be tendered during March 2012. Interested eligible applicants may obtain further information with respect to the pre-qualification requirements, and inspect the Pre-qualification Document between 11am to 4pm on working days at the office of Mott MacDonald Ltd Almoayed House Building 2332, Road 2830 Block 428 Al Seef District Manama Kingdom of Bahrain A complete set of Prequalification Documents in English may be purchased by interested applicants up to two weeks from the date of this advert on working days during office hours with 24 hours notice by written application to The Project Manager at the above address, and on payment of a non-refundable fee of BD 25 per document. The method of payment will be certified by cheque made payable to Mott MacDonald. Applications (duplicate) for Prequalification should be submitted in sealed envelopes, and be clearly marked ‘Application to Pre-qualification for Water Stations Central’ and delivered to the Project Manager at the address mentioned above on or before 6 weeks after the date of this advert during office hours between 11am and 4pm. (Please note Contractors who have previously applied to Kingdom of Bahrain, Electricity & Water Authority for packages under the Water Transmission Development Project 2009-2012 need not re-apply for this package of works.) .
