INVITATION TO PRE-QUALIFICATION NOTICE The Republic of Uganda “The 132 kV Mirama – Kabale Electricity Transmission Line and Distribution Project” Energy Sector Procurement of works for plant, Design, Supply and Installtion of 132kV Mirama-Kabale Transmission Line and Distribution Project. Mode of Financing: Istisna’a Financing No. 2UG0095 Contract/Bid No.UETCL/Works/2016/00003 1.This invitation for prequalification follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Economist Magazine on 24th June, 2014. 2.The Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited has received financing in the amount of US$ 83.75 million (United States Dollar eighty-three million, seven hundred and fifty thousand) from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) toward the cost of the 132 kV Mirama – Kabale electricity transmission line and distribution project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for works for plant, Design, Supply and Installtion of 132kV Mirama-Kabale Transmission Line and associated substations. Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited now invites eligible applicants to prequalification process for the subject project: ICB No.: UGA0095, The project covers the South-western, North and North-Eastern regions of Uganda. The project shall extend the national electricity grid by construction of approximately 85 km of 132kV transmission line backbone from the Mirama 132/33kV substation to the proposed new 132/33kV – 2 x 40 MVA substation in Kabale town; 904 km of 33kV lines and 131 km of Low Voltage (LV) network in 121 villages. The delivery/construction period is eighteen (18) months, (period of 2018-2019). More detailed information on the requirements is provided in the Prequalification documents. 3.Prequalification will be conducted through prequalification procedures specified in the Islamic Development Bank’s Guidelines for Procurement of Goods and Works, May 2009 and is open to all bidders as per the International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedure of the Bank defined in the guidelines. 4.Interested eligible applicants may obtain further information and inspect the prequalification documents from the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited offices at the address below during office hours, i.e 0900 to 1700hours. A complete set of prequalification documents in English may be purchased by interested applicants on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of UGX 500,000 only or an equivalent.
